Need to Know About Women Health

Need to Know About Women Health: Breast cancer awareness month is October, which raises awareness of women’s health and the fight against breast cancer. Breast cancer is only one piece of the puzzle that is female health. The female body is remarkable and has to endure a lot over a woman’s life. We decided to start the month with an entire article dedicated to the fantastic facts regarding women’s health that you should be aware of.

Women Have A Higher Pain Threshold

And not without reason. Giving birth is one of the most difficult experiences a person can have, thus women must have a high pain threshold. According to a McGill University study, a woman’s pain threshold is 9 times greater than a man’s. This is the amount of pain a woman can tolerate and is related to how women remember pain.

Again, for good reason, women are better at forgetting pain than males. This is not to be mistaken with the amount of agony women experience. Women have more pain receptors and thinner skin, so they feel pain more easily. When the agony subsides, people are better at forgetting it and are more inclined to willingly experience it again.

WOMEN ARE MORE RESISTANT TO FATIGUE

Estrogen, the hormone most usually blamed for women’s “moodiness” and “hormonality,” is a very potent hormone. It is so potent that it allows women to endure longer periods of continuous activity.

Running, swimming, and cycling are all activities that women can accomplish more easily than their male counterparts. Men can usually do them faster since they have more muscular power and are heavier than women, which gives them more force behind these exercises.

Women, on the other hand, are naturally better suited to endurance activities.

DURING PREGNANCY, WOMEN ARE ABLE TO PERFORM WORKOUTS/EXERCISE MORE EFFICIENTLY

We all know that pregnancy is wonderful. The changes to a woman’s body are extensive, but they are all there to help her grow another human being inside her for 9 months. For women, an increase in red blood cell count is one of the first big changes to the body.

Going back to high school biology, the more red blood cells you have, the greater your body’s oxygen-carrying ability. Because oxygen is essential for energy synthesis in most tasks, having more of it allows the body to perform those activities more easily.

This essentially means that women in their first trimester are superhuman and can perform chores – such as a workout – with ease. Need to Know About Women Health

BIRTH CONTROL DEPLETES MANY IMPORTANT NUTRIENTS

There is one adverse effect that is rarely discussed among persons who are on hormonal birth control or have ever been on hormonal birth control. It turns out that the pill depletes the body of numerous essential vitamins and minerals.

The key nutrients reduced by the birth control pill are riboflavin, B6, B12, folic acid, magnesium, vitamin C, and zinc. These nutrients are essential for overall health, energy production, and metabolism. Eating a nutritious, whole-food diet should help keep these nutrients in balance, but women should consume these items on a daily basis if they are on the birth control pill or have recently stopped taking it:

  • Organ meats
  • Meat
  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Leafy greens
  • Legumes

THE MAMMARY GLANDS EXTEND BEYOND THE BREAST

We had to add at least one fact regarding breasts and breast cancer because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One in every eight Canadian women will acquire breast cancer at some point in their lives. Breast cancer develops in the mammary glands, which are located outside of the breast.

The mammary glands stretch across the chest, from the armpit to the breast bone, and continue from the breast to the collar bone. This is why women should perform self-exams on a regular basis. They must thoroughly examine the entire area where the mammary glands are located for any tumors or anomalies. We’ve included a breast exam diagram below to assist you or the women in your life with self-examination.

WOMEN HAVE INCREDIBLE LOWER BODY STRENGTH

Women are the stronger sex, despite the fact that men are often hailed for extraordinary feats of strength. Women have been demonstrated to be stronger than men pound for pound, particularly in their lower body and back muscles.

Stephi Cohen, a young woman, has trained herself to deadlift four times her body weight. Men can deadlift 1.5x to 2.5x their body weight on average.

THE EGG CHOOSES THE SPERM

Let’s go back to middle school health class. Many of us were taught that there were “strong swimmers,” and the strongest of them fertilized the egg. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Researchers from Sweden and the United Kingdom revealed that the egg produces “chemoattractant,” which allow the egg to “choose” the sperm. So, no, it’s not about the swimmers’ strength, but about the chemical compatibility.

WOMEN BURN FAT BETTER (BUT THEY ALSO STORE MORE OF IT)

That’s accurate, women use fat for fuel more efficiently than men. Women can use their fat stores for energy more efficiently than males during exercise. This sounds fantastic, but women are also better at storing fat than males, making it more difficult for women to shed and keep excess weight off.

Insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar levels and hence influences fat storage on the body, has a close interaction with estrogen. Because the two hormones are directly affected by each other, women’s bodies build and store more fat than men’s.

This is a good thing evolutionary speaking, because fat is an excellent source of stored nutrients, which means that women can survive longer without food (or maintain a kid) than men. Need to Know About Women Health

WOMEN LIVE 6-7 YEARS LONGER THAN MEN

The causes behind this are biological as well as behavioral. Women are less likely than men to smoke, drink heavily, or be obese. Women are also more inclined than men to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Testosterone, the predominant sex hormone in men, increases the likelihood of men engaging in dangerous behavior. Men are more likely to be involved in vehicle accidents, physical fights, and gunfights.

WOMEN HAVE STRONGER IMMUNE SYSTEMS

Women are also more likely to live longer lives because their sex hormones boost their immune systems. Estrogen is a hormone that protects the body, whereas testosterone is a hormone that weakens the immune system.

A sophisticated system governs how our sex hormones directly boost or decrease function. Simply put, estrogen promotes the function of key cells in the brain and stomach, whereas testosterone suppresses natural killer cells while strengthening the anti-inflammatory response.

The female body is capable of some amazing feats. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are reminded that, while women are strong and resilient, their health is vulnerable to disease. Instead of imposing foolish ideas on women, we should encourage them to care for their bodies and brains. We hope that these amazing facts regarding women’s health will help lead those discussions.
